Federal'southward Premium Constabulary Enforcement HST line of JHP duty ammunition offers massive expansion! This duty load has a pre-skived bullet tip which causes the bullet to expand into large petals that cause a large permanent wound cavity. The unique blueprint of this bullet actually forces the lead petals during expansion to protect the copper petals behind them. This results in increased weight retention allowing it to still achieve deep penetration through a multifariousness of barriers prescribed by the FBI test protocols.

Great Round
The actual Penetration was 21",and the bounciness back was 17". One thing we have to remember is that, in the human torso at that place are bones, so therefore the bullet Penetration wouldn't exist 21". That's only in Gelatin.

What .40 should be
The ballistic operation of this round brings the .40 from "short & weak" to hand cannon condition. Dwarfs 10mm in expansion and penetration. Only lacking in velocity, merely according to the gel tests, that doesn't matter, bullet still performs incredibly.

This is different from the regular 40 SW 180 gr HST JHP. This seems to kick more than and slightly more difficult to put on target. It takes some getting used to!

All-time rest of value and operation for self defense force ammo
I've collected a lot of different self defense ammo to compare and meet what shot the best through my HK pistols. I tested a variety of brands through 9mm and 40SW full size, compact, and subcompact guns. Your typical 50rd budget box of hollow points shot similar ball ammo. No consistency. Hornady Critical Defense was the best performer as far as grouping. The Federal HST shot almost as skilful as the Hornady, was consequent, and the price is better significant you tin actually afford to exercise with it. I can't stress plenty how important information technology is to exercise with what yous acquit - both gun and ammo! Aught malfunctions with Federal. I've committed to loading all my mitt guns with HST.

HSTs are consistently i of the most effective loads in whatever quotient for which they are offered, and 180gr .xl is no exception. Spectacular expansion and deep penetration happen consistently, and they feed reliably in all my .40s. Non much else to say.

My favorite defense ammo
it's a great rounds. many Law Enforcement agencies run this ammo. Information technology shoots well.The only downside is that information technology is priced a fleck higher than competitors comparable ammo. i typically run this or Hornady Critical Defense force.

This detail load is my dept's electric current .40 cal duty load. We have fired them into everything and they perform exactly as advertised. The cost is what makes them a 4 star purchase instead of 5. Perfect defence / duty round. The Perfect .40S&W Defense Ammo
